• The SRSR recently completed a nationwide computer-assisted telephone interviewing study in which the response rate exceeded 90%. Nearly half of these interviews were completed during the evening or on the weekends
• In a large cohort study of parents and guardians of children and adolescents, response rates for successive annual surveys exceeded 90%
• In this same study involving parents and guardians of children and adolescents, computer-assisted telephone interviews were also conducted of the adolescents, 12-14 years old, with a 95% completion rate
• SRSR interviewers delivered a Motivational Interviewing intervention to promote colorectal cancer screening among individuals at high risk for colorectal cancer. Adherence to protocol was exceptional, and the SRSR-delivered intervention significantly improved screening rates as part of this large randomized trial
• One interview script was developed to accommodate 42 on-going clinical trials, all of which were Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) trials. The interview was designed to collect information to assist the CICSR in its clinical trials audit responsibilities. However, with the SRSR’s flexible calling schedule and dedicated interviewer resources, the response rate for this hard-to-reach sample was nonetheless impressive (n = 78 or 60%). Plans are now underway to extend this service with a substantially larger cohort of CU Cancer Center clinical trials participants
• The SRSR recently established a study-specific call center to assist in recruiting eligible research participants (breast cancer survivors) to a large randomized trial, in which more than 400 eligible research participants were recruited and enrolled
