Identification of biomarkers for use of the lung cancer chemoprevention agent iloprost. Additional lung cancer projects include mouse models of prevention, activation of macrophages, characterization of dysplasia, and the role of spleen tyrosine kinase.
Students will: a) learn tissue culture techniques, b) perform RNA extractions and quantitative PCR, c) perform protein extractions and immunoblots, d) gain an understanding of mouse models of lung cancer, e0 become familiar with lung cancer prevention approaches, and f) interpret and discuss results in the context of current research literature.
