Prerequisites:
Must have completed two years of college
Number of Openings: 1
Program Objective:
To examine the long-term effects of radiotherapy on cancer cells.
Program Description:
Radiation therapy is the standard treatment for many cancers. Initial tumor response to conventional radiotherapy is usually local control, but over time these tumors may begin to grow again. At the same time, these irradiated tumors can exhibit more aggressive behavior.
Our lab is interested in the mechanism of radiation-induced changes in tumor characteristics. The student will use a number of techniques, including tissue culture, immunoblotting (Westerns), PCR and qRT-PCR.
