Main Research Focus:
Dr. David Crawford is the Head of Urologic Oncology and a Professor of Surgery and Radiation Oncology. Additionally, Dr. Crawford is the Founder of the Prostate Conditions Education Council and national Nonprofit organization providing free men's health testing. Students will be asked to participate in the analysis of data from one of the following areas of interest: 1) Staging and mapping biopsies of the prostate. 2) Comparisons and trends of men's health data, including prostate cancer testosterone, cholesterol, etc. 3) Biomarkers and molecular testing results in patients participating in certain protocols.
Students will have an opportunity to observe Urologic Oncology clinics, observe in the operating room, and will be asked to manage a research project focusing on data analysis from one of our many areas of focus. We ask students to write abstracts to be submitted to medical meetings based on their findings and analysis. Previous students have had abstracts accepted at major meetings and have contributed to publications in medical journals.
