Colorado Cancer Day

Join us for a day of information and conversation about the latest treatments for common cancer types, cancer survivorship information and more, brought to you by the experts at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.

The date for Colorado Cancer Day will be announced in the fall of 2012. The 2011 event was November 5. 

It starts at 9 a.m. with break-out sessions by cancer type, followed by a general session. The event ends with a complimentary lunch at 1 p.m.

Who should attend?

Current patients and those who have just finished treatment and their family members.

Where is the Colorado Cancer Day held?

Colorado Cancer Day is held on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo.

What types of cancer are covered?

  • Breast Cancer - topics include understanding diagnosis and progression, biology of breast cancer + support in therapy decision making and being a breast cancer survivor.
  • Colorectal Cancer - topics include understanding diagnosis and prognosis, genetics + colorectal cancer and surviving colorectal cancer.
  • Lung Cancer - topics include screening + surgical management, survivorship and personalized treatments.
  • Prostate Cancer - topics include screening + early management, update on diagnosis and new local therapies and emerging medical therapies.
  • Head & Neck - topics include nutrition, novel treatments in radiation and chemotherapy
  • General Sessions - topics include coping with diagnosis, integrative medicine and clinical trials.

    • 9:00 - 9:20 a.m. | Welcome and Cancer 101 Introduction
    • 9:30 - 11:15 a.m. | Individual Cancer Sessions (Pick One: Breast, Lung, Colorectal, Prostate, or Head and Neck
    • 11:15 - 11:30 a.m. | Break/Box Lunch Handout
    • 11:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. | General Session*

    *The General Session will be presented by Mike Landess, Channel 7 News Anchor. Mike will talk about the patient's perspective on clinical trials, nutrition, complementary therapies and coping with diagnosis and beyond.

    What does it cost?

    Colorado Cancer Day is a free community education event. Lunch is included.

    Registration is required.
