Denver Health is the largest "safety-net" health care organization in Colorado and is one of the Center's clinical trials sites. It joined the University of Colorado Cancer Center in 1985 as a consortium member.
In collaboration with the CU Cancer Center's Cancer Prevention & Control research program, Denver Health's Patient Navigation Program is testing a patient navigator program among underserved patients who have had an abnormal cancer screening test (breast, prostate and colorectal).
The program being tested provides navigation and support services extending through completion of cancer therapy for those patients who are subsequently diagnosed with cancer. A large target group in this program is underserved Latino patients.
