The Metabolic Core Service Center at the University of Colorado Denver’s Center for Human Nutrition is a state-of-the-art research laboratory providing crucial research support to investigators in the Colorado Nutrition Obesity Research Center, within the research and clinical community of University of Colorado Denver and to other research institutes in the area.
Core Objectives

Provide high quality analyses to investigators at reasonable cost.

Expose researchers to new techniques (cytokine assays, insulin signaling, real-time qPCR) that will help expand the quantity and quality of nutrition research in the Colorado Nutrition Obesity Research Center.

Help investigators extend their research beyond the specific hypotheses proposed in their RO1 grants. For example, many investigators who did not previously assess insulin action in their own studies have taken advantage of this core laboratory to obtain these measures using insulin signaling assays.

Achieve an overall cost-savings for investigators and provide them time in their own laboratories for their own experiments.

Promote interaction between investigators and foster multidisciplinary research training in clinical nutrition and obesity across the Anschutz Medical Campus.
Facilities and Equipment
The Metabolic Core Service Center is located within Dr. Friedman’s laboratory in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes (Research Complex 1-South, 7th floor at the Anschutz Medical Center).
