Welcome to the Colorado Center for Health & Wellness

MISSION
In 2008, the Anschutz Foundation of Denver, CO donated $15 million toward the creation of the new Colorado Center for Health and Wellness (CCHW) at the University of Colorado.  With matching funds from the University of Colorado, the CCHW will allow the AMC to become a beacon for health promotion and disease prevention throughout Colorado, the nation and the world.

Through its programs, the center will empower individuals to achieve healthier lives and to create healthier communities through sustainable, life-long changes in diet, physical activity and personal health management.  Unlike more conventional approaches to health promotion and disease prevention, the CCHW will offer science-based programs that are developed primarily from the vast breadth of knowledge of University of Colorado researchers and clinicians.  In keeping with its mission, the CCHW will have a strong external focus that influences healthy living beyond the AMC and in family and community settings throughout metro Denver and Colorado.

PROGRESS
Groundbreaking was held on September 7, 2010.  Building completion is estimated for late Spring 2012.  While the building is a critical component of the CCHW, the programs that will define it are currently being developed.  These will include basic research, clinical trials, weight management, alternative medicine, executive and community health programs, and many others.
