Helpful Resources for Patients and Families with Clotting Disorders

There are many organizations and resources available to patients and families who are living with thrombosis and clotting disorders. The links below are organizations with education and information to manage and understand clotting disorders.

The National Blood Clot Alliance

This non-profit, voluntary health organization is focused on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening blood clots. Their site provides patient stories, educational materials and information regarding clotting disorders as well as up to date news.

The Vascular Disease Foundation

A non-profit focused on vascular diseases, this organization promotes awareness and education on disease and illness related to the vascular (circulatory system) including Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Their site provides helpful resources and information that may be of use to thrombosis patients.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The CDC is a major component of the Department of Health and Human Services. Their mission is to protect health and promote quality of life through prevention and control of disease, injury and disability. This site has a wealth of information for patients and families living with thrombosis and clotting disorders. They have many articles and links with materials to assist both patient and provider.

Personal Stories of People Living with DVT and PE

This is a flickr site that is sponsored by the CDC providing information and experiences of people around the world who have faced Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism.

Pediatric Venous Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism

This brochure, created by the HTC several years ago outlines an overview for patients and providers focusing on awareness, prevention, treatment and support of families and patients facing venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism in children or young adults.

Our team at the HTC is working on updating articles and information for patients in our care that are facing a thrombosis diagnosis.  Thank you for your patience as we prepare these documents to put up on this site as a resource for you.
