In 2007, the Colorado Legislature allocated $300,000 to fund a feasibility study of expanding the School of Medicine to a branch campus on the Western Slope. The study determined that $3 million to $4 million in ongoing annual state support would be required to open the campus. Progress has been stymied by a lack of state funds.
An outcome of the feasibility study was the initiation of three rotations in Grand Junction:
These rotations take students on a regular basis and are highly evaluated by the students.
