(May 2014) The University of Colorado and Duke University schools of medicine
have received a $10 million grant from the National Institute for
Nursing Research (NINR) to continue developing the Palliative Care Research Cooperative Group (PCRC) during the next five years.
The
PCRC was established in 2010 with startup funding from the NINR, which
is part of the National Institutes of Health, with the goal of promoting
research that leads to better ways of relieving suffering and improving
the quality of life for patients with advanced, potentially
life-limiting illnesses.
“We will develop key resources and
infrastructure that nurture, enlist and harness investigator and site
interest,” says Jean Kutner, MD, MSPH, professor of medicine and PCRC
co-chair. “This will enable us to promote the conduct and translation of
high-quality, collaborative, patient-centered palliative care and
end-of-life research.”
