Must have completed at least one year of dental school and be a student member of the academy of LDS Dentists. Funds can be used any way the recipient desires. Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2014 to support dental hygiene students pursuing academic careers.
ADEA/Crest Oral-B Laboratories Scholarships for Predoctoral Dental Students Pursuing Academic Careers
Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2014 to support dental students who plan education beyond a doctoral degree and who have an interest in academic careers.
ADEA Preventive Dentistry Scholarships
Twelve $2,500 scholarships will be awarded in 2014 to support predoctoral students who have demonstrated excellence in preventive dentistry.
ADEA/Sigma Phi Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in 2014 to support an individual studying allied dental education at the baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree level.
ADEA/TheraBreath Student Research Fellowships
Four $2,500 fellowships will be awarded in 2014 to support student research in xerostomia and/or halitosis. Awardees may be eligible to receive an additional year of funding, depending on the outcome of their initial year of research.

AFA Air Force Spouse Scholarships
Available for spouses of Air Force active duty, Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve. Scholarships are awarded in May. Scholarships may be used to pay for any reasonable cost related to pursuing a degree. This includes tuition and books. Any remaining money can be used to pay for other related expenses (e.g., transportation, childcare). The spouse can be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

AHEPA Educational Foundation
The applicant is of Greek descent; or a member or son or daughter of a member, in good standing of AHEPA, the Daughters of Penelope, Sons of Pericles or the Maids of Athena. Award amount: $500 to $2,000.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Scholarship
Awarded to students who have completed at least one full year of higher education. Financial assistance awards range from $500 to $2,000 and merit awards are $1,000. Colgate and the ADA have teamed up to provide grants up to $2,000.

American Academy of Implant Dentistry
Available to dental residents. Intended to provide exposure to research related to implant dentistry. Applicants are required to make an oral presentation, a poster presentation, or a table clinic presentation. Grants are available in the amount of $2,000 plus $500 travel expenses.

American Association of University Women (AAUW) – Career Development Grant
Available to women already in a career and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented. Largest source of funding exclusively for graduate women. Award amount will vary, but will be at least $2,000.

American Dental Association (ADA) Endowment and Assistance Fund, Inc.
Second-year students who are US citizens and attend an accredited dental school are eligible. The maximum grant is $2,500 per year. Scholarship awards are based on a student’s academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale), financial need, character references, and a summary statement of personal and professional goals.

American Fund for Dental Health (AFDH) Minority Dental Student Scholarship Program
Scholarships are awarded to second-year students, who are US citizens, currently attending an accredited dental school and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and show financial need. The maximum grant is $2,500 per year. Character references and a summary statement of personal and professional goals must be submitted.

Armenian Student Association Scholarship
Must be of Armenian descent. Must be a U.S. citizen or must possess appropriate Visa status in order to study in the U.S. Award amount: Up to $5,000.

Florida Dental Association
Available to Florida residents with financial need, enrolled in their second year at any U.S. accredited dental school, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 may apply. $5,000 loans are available and will begin payback one year after graduation.

Greater St. Louis Dental Society
Available for the academic year to dental students attending an accredited dental school (who are Missouri residents). Applicants must be full-time student at an accredited dental school in his/her final two years of the program. Applicant must have been a resident of Missouri for a minimum of five years. The applicant should have a future goal of starting his/her dental career in the St. Louis area.

Hispanic Dental Association Foundation/Proctor & Gamble Scholarship Program
Available to incoming, Hispanic U.S. students who have been accepted into an accredited dental, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or dental technical program. Scholarships available in the amounts of $500 and $1,000.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Available to Hispanic American undergraduate and graduate college students. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program, have earned at least 12 undergraduate units in the U.S., and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7. Award amounts may vary, but will be at least $1,000.

Indian Health Professions Scholarship Program
Available to American Indian and Alaska Native students who are members of their Tribe (federally recognized only), enrolled in health professions and allied health professions programs. Students incur service obligations and payback requirements upon acceptance of funding from this program. Health Professions Scholarships are awarded for a one-year period (12 months of support), with re-application required for each year of continuation, up to four years.

The JACL offers a number of scholarships, with the $5,000 Dr. Kiyoshi Sonoda Memorial Scholarship devoted to dental students. Applicants must be active members of the National JACL pursuing a degree in dentistry.

National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program
Program helps dental students finance professional schooling, while at the same time helping to assure access to primary health care in historically underserved areas. To be eligible for the NHSC Scholarship Program, you must be a US citizen enrolled in a fully-accredited U.S. school. There is a minimum two year contract requirement to work in an underserved area of choice.

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships
Annual adjusted gross family income of $35,000 or less, as documented on federal income tax return on which the applicant is claimed as a federal tax exemption. Are U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens. Award amount: $1,500 scholarships, renewable. Up to 50 percent of the scholarship awards will be targeted to applicants who are members of an ethnic minority group or have a documented physical disability.
