The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine provides urgent and emergency care for our patients of record (patients currently treated by a dental student, general practice resident, graduate periodontal, orthodontic resident or dental faculty provider) as well as for patients who are not presently being treated at the School of Dental Medicine.
For patients who are not currently patients of the School of Dental Medicine, the Urgent Care/Emergency Clinic is open Monday through Friday when the Dental School is in session. Patients are seen on a first come first serve basis. The main doors of the School open at 8 a.m. and the Urgent Care/Emergency Clinic begins seeing patients at 9 a.m. It is recommended that patients arrive early to register as the Clinic often fills to capacity due to high demand.

The purpose of the Clinic is to provide relief of emergency problems, such as pain, swelling, bleeding or trauma. Treatment is provided by third and fourth year dental students under the supervision of School of Dental Medicine faculty.
Children are not allowed in the clinic and must be attended at all times while in the School of Dental Medicine lobby and public spaces.
The basic Urgent Care/Emergency Clinic fee is $49.00 which includes a diagnostic exam, medical review and a radiograph of the area of concern. Any additional procedures such as extractions or root canals will incur additional fees. Every attempt has been made to keep our fees as low as possible.
All payments are expected on the day of service. The basic Urgent Care/Emergency Clinic fee will be collected prior to being seen. The Clinic accepts cash, major credit and debit cards. Medicaid is accepted for covered services. If you have dental insurance, payment documentation will be provided so that a claim for reimbursement can be submitted by you to your insurance company.
For patients of record, emergencies are best handled by calling your student or resident dental provider directly. If the student or resident is unavailable, please call 303-724-6900 to be directed to the appropriate department.
