Our 24-hour course in local anesthesia is designed to comply
with the educational requirements of the Rules and Regulations of the Dental
Practice Act of Colorado as well as the following *other state boards: MN, MO,
ND, OK, OR, SD, WI, WY. Through lecture, demonstration, laboratory, and
clinical experiences, participants will learn the management of pain through
the administration of local anesthetic agents. You will receive hands-on
experience with a live patient on the last day of the course. If you are moving
to Colorado, this course is essential for any dental hygienist without
prior local anesthesia training. This course is a must for those who are moving
to Colorado or for those who have not successfully completed a 24-hour course
in local anesthesia, including block anesthesia, as part of your accredited
dental hygiene program or in a formal continuing education course by an ADA

This course fulfills the DORA requirements in Colorado for Local
Anesthesia Training. Additional licensing is required prior to praciticing.
Handbook of Local Anesthesia by Stanley F. Malamed, DDS. Students are
responsible for purchasing their own copy of the textbook. Fifth or Sixth
Edition of the text is acceptable. Prerequisite reading of the text is highly
recommended prior to the start of the course. Additional information is
provided in the registration confirmation email.
Participants must provide copies of the following documentation
by Friday, May 26, 2017 to be eligible for course participation.
- A copy of your current dental hygiene license
- A copy of your current CPR certification card
- Proof of malpractice insurance

You are required to bring a patient with you on Sunday, June 11th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. If you are unable to bring a patient, one may be
provided for you at additional cost. Detailed information on course preparation
will be sent to you upon receipt of registration and will include guidelines
for types of patients required during the last clinic session. Please note,
participants will practice local anesthesia injections on each other during
the Saturday and Sunday clinic sessions. If you are unable to
receive injections due to health reasons (allergies, pregnancy, etc.) please
notify us as soon as possible.
