Welcome to the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine Office of Diversity and Inclusion. As an integral part of the CU System, the mission of our school is to provide programs of excellence in teaching, research, patient care and community/professional service for Colorado and the nation. The school’s educational programs have as their primary purpose the education of graduates who possess the knowledge, skills and values to begin the practice of general dentistry as ethical practitioners committed to lifelong learning, and dedicated to fulfilling the public’s trust.
In fulfillment of our mission, the school and our office are committed to promoting diversity in our clinics, courses, programs, human resources, and overall environment. The students, faculty and administration of the school believe that diversity is a core value that is central to the educational, research, community service and health care missions of the School. We are dedicated to promoting and preserving excellent health care among the residents of our communities. We recognize and value the individual contributions each of us has to offer. We will seek out and nurture those distinctive characteristics to broaden our educational experiences and build relationships with our patients. Furthermore, we will identify opportunities to attract students and faculty from a wide variety of backgrounds to enhance our programs and provide culturally competent care to our patients.
The School of Dental Medicine has adopted a definition of diversity that embraces race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, ability status, nationality, religion, political affiliation, political philosophy or socioeconomic status. The definition of diversity also includes life experiences, record of service and employment and other talents that enhance the scholarly and learning environment.
