Find an Intern

If you are interested in hiring an intern, the Business School can help you find the perfect student for the position. Internships can be structured for class credit; for pay and credit; and for pay without credit.

Internship Guidelines and Considerations

Internships are more than just a job. They are an opportunity for students to gain understanding of the industry and help prepare them for life after business school. Experience is the key, and the internship provides a first-hand learning experience for students.

Considerations for an internship:

  • What do you expect to have the student learn from this experience?
  • What are the specific educational goals expected from the project/position? Goals should be observable and measurable.
  • Are there any special trainings or workshops necessary for this internship (outside of readings)?

Your responsibilities as an employer

  • Provide the necessary orientation, training, precautionary safety instructions, and supervision in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the internship
  • If the student is paid, you have the responsibility for providing Workers' Compensation and liability insurance in accordance with Colorado State law, and you agree to provide the coverage
  • The Experiential Learning Center must be notified if any problems develop during the internship placement
  • Complete a final written evaluation of the student's performance (evaluation forms are provided by the Experiential Learning Center)
  • Internships need to have a faculty sponsor; the Business School can help find a sponsor for you

Internship postings

Once your internship has been accepted by the career center, it is posted on InternLink, the university's online professional internship posting service. This allows access to the Experiential Learning Center’s extensive internship board.

The Business School is now requiring experiential learning for all BS in Business Administration students. To facilitate this, we continually look for internship opportunities in the community. Our top students are given the opportunity to intern to gain their experiential learning credit.

Graduate Career Connections can help fill internship positions with graduate students across a number of disciplines. We’ll help you get your position posted for student review and increase the visibility of your opportunity with faculty and students. Call the GCC office at 303-315-8900 or email GCC@ucdenver.edu to get started.
