MS in Business Analytics | Degree Requirements

Business Analytics

Business Analytics teaches you to use mathematical models to enhance decision-making capabilities in the workplace. This gives you an understanding of the more common types of modeling procedures—predictive modeling with big data, data analysis, forecasting, operations management and other advanced quantitative methods—so you learn to make decisions based on data.

Business Analytics Courses

The MS in Business Analytics degree requires successful completion of 30 semester hours (10 courses) and may include courses in subjects such as:

  • Predictive Modeling with Big Data
  • Statistics for Business Analytics
  • Operations Management
  • Project Management
  • Decision Analysis
  • Forecasting
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Marketing Research
  • Computing for Business Analytics
  • Simulation Modeling
  • VBA for Business Analytics
  • Business Analytics Practicum
  • Special topics such as Large Scale Optimization Methods for Big Data

A comprehensive exam is not required.

The Business Analytics Practicum course is a leading-edge teaching approach to training students in real-world applications of quantitative methods. In the Practicum, students, under the direction of faculty, address a real-world problem proposed by an industry sponsor. ​

Time commitment

If you are working full-time and pursuing an education part-time, you can expect to complete the degree in two years. 

Students can only enter into the program in the Fall semester. If you are working full-time and pursuing an education part-time, you can expect to complete the degree in two years. The program is not intended to be finished in one calendar year and would take at least four terms to complete, including a summer term.
