It is not uncommon for people beginning an MBA program to be somewhat unclear about the direction they want to take their careers upon graduation.  Given the compressed nature of our 11-Month MBA program, this can be problematic since it is virtually impossible to mount much of a serious job search if you don’t know what you are searching for!

To facilitate the career decision making process, the 11-Month MBA program provides a dedicated staff member to assist students through this process.  The 11-Month MBA program provides you with a dedicated career/job search staff member to support and guide you through the transition from graduate school to the next step in your career.

In addition, the program also provides the CareerLeader® assessment to each and every student.  Developed in the Harvard MBA program for business careers, CareerLeader® is used by over 400 leading business schools and corporations worldwide.  It is a web-based comprehensive career assessment tool based on over 25 years of scientific research. CareerLeader® measures your interests, your abilities, and what you find most motivating in work.  Learn more about CareerLeader®.

Throughout the duration of the 11-Month MBA program, workshops are offered each term to help students build the skills and tools necessary to successfully advance their careers upon graduation.

A sampling of workshop topics includes:

  • Identifying & Articulating Your Skills
  • Resume Writing
  • Researching Careers & Industries
  • Targeted Networking
  • Social Media & Your Job Search
  • Interviewing Strategies
  • Negotiating Offers
  • High Impact Job Hunting

The 11-Month MBA hosts a Speaker’s Series that brings in business professionals for Q&A sessions and networking opportunities.  Students have the opportunity to select topics of interest and are provided with the support to connect with relevant subject matter experts.  These connections provide valuable information to the class as well and create important networking opportunities.

Speakers have addressed topics ranging from industry-specific trends to recent developments in targeted professions to a variety of professional development subjects.  Topics and speakers are driven by student’s interests.

The Graduate Career Connections office in the Business School hosts networking events, posts jobs and internships, and does outreach to the business community to support graduate business students and recent alumni of the Business School.

Corporate recruiters visit our campus looking for top talent from all the university programs here. Our university Career Center coordinates these visits, hosts an online job board and other career-related events.  Their website offers a wealth of informational resources.

The 11-Month MBA works with local businesses to develop relationships and pipelines for students in the program.  Students can pursue internships while they are in the program to complement their academic experience as well.  Internships are coordinated through the Experiential Learning Center

Each year the program helps students rewrite their resumes to target the direction they want to advance their careers.  Students are shown how to leverage their unique combination of education, skills, and experiences to create a unique marketing tool that will enable them to stand out from the competition.  The resumes are assembled into a book that is made available to select employers and campus offices.

Employers use the 11-Month MBA resume book.

The 11-Month MBA program collects the resumes of graduates and offers them to employers in our 11-Month MBA resume book. A hard copy or electronic version is available.  Please e-mail Tiffany Espinosa at tiffany.espinosa@ucdenver.edu or phone her at 303-315-8801.
