What We Offer

In many of today’s industries, having a collegiate background in aspects of business can benefit the future college graduate. The undergraduate business minors at the University of Colorado Denver Business School were designed for the non-business undergraduate student in order to give them an opportunity to expand upon their highly valuable skills. These minors -- Business Fundamentals, Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Risk Management -- may all compliment degrees such as mathematics, economics, engineering, humanities, and many others found in the CU Denver system. With connections to various business partners, and a location downtown, the Business School spearheads the future of business education.

Business Fundamentals Minor

The business fundamentals minor is specifically designed to introduce non-business undergraduate students to the fundamentals of business equipping you with the knowledge and skills to launch your major into a career.

Many hiring managers are looking for employees with business knowledge and skills which may not be acquired in other highly specialized areas of study. Students enrolled in the business minor have the benefit of following their passion with their undergraduate degree while adding the business knowledge and skills employers want.

Entrepreneurship Minor

The CU Denver Business School and the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship offers an Entrepreneurship Minor designed to give students the chance to explore entrepreneurship as a career option and acquire the tools to build and be a part of successful start-up businesses. Since entrepreneurship is inherently cross-disciplinary in nature, students pursuing non-business majors can choose to enroll in the program.

Entrepreneurship is one of the fastest-growing business segments in the country, which is why the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship is offering an affordable program for students of all disciplines to gain the skills necessary to succeed in entrepreneurial ventures. Students will find many opportunities, including scholarships, mentoring and networking, as well as gain skills that prepare them to start a successful business or become an entrepreneurial asset to an existing company.

Finance Minor

The finance minor will help prepare students in pursuing economics, mathematics and other related degrees for careers in the financial sector. This may include careers as a financial planner, financial analyst, investment banker or as a broker.

Risk Management and Insurance Minor

The Risk Management and Insurance minor adds value to many degrees such as economics, math, actuarial science, physical sciences, engineering, architecture, communications, arts and media. The RMI Minor gives you the tools to analyze risks in a field, increasing your marketability and potential for success.

The Risk Management and Insurance industry is incredibly diverse and hires talented individuals from nearly every major. If you would like to develop the expertise to analyze the risk dimensions of your chosen field, you may consider adding the RMI minor to your undergraduate degree plan.
