Admission Requirements

Apply for the BS in Business Administration

The distinguished quality of the University of Colorado Denver Business School Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration is reflected in the student body, which begins with our high admission standards, whether you are a new freshman or transferring from another program. We welcome recent high school graduates along with those who have started their careers. At completion, you will earn a baccalaureate degree in business administration with a substantial liberal arts component.

As a freshman applicant, you must have completed the college preparatory curriculum in high school and graduated in the top 25 percent of your class. You need a score of at least 26 on the ACTE or 1100 on the SAT. For further information see the University admissions standards, or refer to the CU Denver Catalog.

You need to meet Minimum Academic Preparation Standards (MAPS). You may be admitted with MAPS deficiencies if you meet the other admission requirements and if you agree to make up any deficiencies before graduation.

Our degree is closely linked, through articulation agreements, with Colorado's four-year and community colleges to facilitate your desire to transfer to our degree program. Call your advisor to find out how many of your credits will apply.

If you have completed work at another collegiate institution, please review the information on transfer students in the General Information section of the CU Denver Catalog.

In addition to the general university transfer policies, the CU Denver Business School also evaluates your course work to determine what previous course work may apply to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

  • If you have completed more than 24 semester hours of transferable course work, you will be evaluated for admission on the basis of your college GPA without regard to your high school performance.
  • If you have fewer than 24 transferable hours, your high school work will be evaluated in addition to your college work.
  • Only the course work applicable to the BS in Business Administration program is evaluated
  • Generally this excludes course work of a technical or vocational nature and courses in activity PE and remedial subjects.
  • For information about specific policies on transfer of a credit, consult with the undergraduate business program coordinator.

If you wish to transfer to the CU Denver Business School from another school or college in the University of Colorado Denver, you must formally apply to the CU Denver Business School.

  • To apply for an intra-university transfer, submit an Intra-university Transfer (IUT) form and your transcripts to the business program coordinator. Contact an advisor for more information.
  • Order your transcript from the Records Office. Your transcript must include your most recent semester at the university.
  • If you have course work from other institutions, you need to submit a copy of your transfer credit evaluations.

Deadlines

Transfer deadlines are August 1 for the fall semester, December 1 for the spring semester, and May 1 for the summer session.

Admission Standards

The admission standards for intra-university transfer are the same as those for transferring from other institutions. You will be considered for admission based on either your overall GPA in applicable course work from the University of Colorado and all previous institutions or on your last 24 hours of work.

You will receive priority consideration for admission to the Business School if you have an overall GPA of 3.0 or a GPA of 3.0 in your last 24 hours of work.

If you have a GPA of at least 2.6 in your last 24 hours, you will be ranked and considered for admission on a space-available basis.
