Bachelor’s Scholarships

Apply for a Business School scholarship


The Student Portal will open for Fall 2013 scholarship applications on December 1, 2012. The deadline to apply for most scholarships is April 1, 2013. Please note that some scholarships may have extended application deadlines.

The CU Denver Business School offers a variety of scholarships to help you finance your degree. We offer scholarships based on need and others based on academic accomplishment.

We also have a convenient online application that allows you access to all scholarships that match your profile.

Our scholarships are funded by alumni, members of the Colorado business community, and the State of Colorado, to help you get the best education possible.

The scholarships listed here are offered through the CU Denver Business School, however there may be more available through the Scholarship Office and other sources. ​

Tips for preparing a scholarship application

  • Submit your scholarship on time.
  • Make sure you are qualified for ALL scholarship criteria.
  • Are you in the field of study for which the scholarship is intended, if applicable?
  • Do you meet the minimum test scores or grade point average, if applicable?
  • Assemble ALL requested information in the order in which it was requested, if one is specified. Submit as a single application package.
  • Include at least the minimum number of recommendations.
  • Proofread all materials in your application. Check all submissions for grammatical and spelling errors.
  • Make your application and essays as neat as possible.
  • Make your application and essays clear.
  • If requested, reference all community service work and community affiliations.
  • If requested, include verification that you are enrolled or accepted to the school for which you are applying.
  • If required, complete the FAFSA for financial aid.

The Board of Advisors Scholarship

To benefit currently enrolled undergraduate business students demonstrating academic achievement, leadership, service and financial need. Open to both domestic and international undergraduate business students with at least 15 semester hours of Business School coursework completed and a minimum GPA of 3.0 (no minimum TOEFL score)

  • Amount Awarded: $500
  • Expense Categories Covered: Tuition only
  • Duration of the Award: One semester only

Dean's Scholarship for Continuing Undergraduate Business Students

Open to undergraduate business students with resident status and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

  • Amount Awarded: Maximum of $1,000 per semester
  • Expense Categories Covered: Tuition and fees only
  • Duration of the Award: Maximum of four semesters
  • Renewal Conditions: Recipients must reapply for each additional semester (after the initial award); a minimum GPA of 3.6 and inclusion in the top 10% of undergraduate business students enrolled in the Business School for the applicable semester are required for renewal
  • Application: Dean's Undergraduate Scholarship for Continuing Undergraduate Business Students Application

Recipients of this award are not eligible to receive other Business School scholarships.

This award is funded by the State of Colorado.


The Business School Excellence Scholarship for Incoming Undergraduate Business Students

Open to incoming domestic and international undergraduate business students with a minimum GPA of 3.4 based on a combination of high school and transfer credit hours and, for international students, a minimum TOEFL score of 525 (students admitted for the summer semester may apply for fall scholarship money)

  • Amount Awarded: Maximum of $1,000 Expense
  • Categories Covered: Tuition and fees with balance refunded to student
  • Duration of the Award: One semester only

The Dean's Community College Scholarship

To benefit Colorado community college students enrolling in the Business School at CU-Denver and exhibiting excellent academic performance

pen to undergraduate business students with resident status and a minimum GPA of 3.4 based on a minimum of 45 academic hours at the community college level.

  • Amount Awarded: In-state tuition and fees for one semester (15 semester hours maximum)
  • Expense Categories Covered: Tuition and fees only
  • Duration of the Award: Maximum of four semesters
  • Renewal Conditions: For automatic renewal, recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and continuously enroll in the fall and spring semesters (summer tuition and fees may be included in the award at the discretion of the student)

The Business School Sustaining Student Scholarship

To benefit currently enrolled undergraduate business students demonstrating financial need. Open to both domestic and international undergraduate business students with at least 15 semester hours of Business School coursework completed and a minimum GPA of 2.5 (no minimum TOEFL score)

  • Amount Awarded: Maximum of $1,000
  • Expense Categories Covered: Tuition and fees with balance refunded to student
  • Duration of the Award: One semester only

Recipients of this award are eligible to receive other Business School scholarships.


Undergraduate International Study Scholarship

To increase intercultural awareness through study abroad. Open to both domestic and international fully enrolled CU-Denver undergraduate business students applying to a CU-Denver travel study or exchange program with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (no minimum TOEFL score).

  • Additional Requirements: Two letters of recommendation
  • Amount Awarded: $3,000
  • Expense Categories Covered: Program fee or airfare
  • Duration of the Award: One semester (fall or spring)

PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship

To benefit a junior accounting major. Open to both domestic and international junior accounting majors with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Accounting courses and overall, as well as strong leadership potential displayed by:

  • Officer of Beta Alpha Psi or other organization
  • Chair of a committee with significant results
  • Examples of leadership results/achievements in a job

Other desirable qualities include examples of strong interpersonal skills, being a team player, showing relevant work experience (optional), initiative in financing the student's own education, and a desire to enter public accounting profession upon graduation. (no minimum TOEFL score)

  • Amount Awarded: Maximum of $1,000
  • Expense Categories Covered: Tuition and fees with balance refunded to student
  • Duration of the Award: One semester only

Recipients of this award are eligible to receive other Business School scholarships.


Accounting Program Scholarship

Based on demonstrated financial need and academic performance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to both domestic and international students.
  • Must be in the MS Accounting program.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
  • Must demonstrate financial need (as determined by the financial aid office). Domestic students must complete FAFSA prior to applying for this scholarship. International students must complete a “Budget Sheet”, which is available through the scholarship application portal.

Amount Awarded: up to $1,000

Duration of the Award: One semester. Recipients may reapply in subsequent terms for reconsideration.

Open for Application: Spring 2012: October 15, 2011 - November 15, 2011. Fall 2012: December 1, 2011 - April 15, 2012.

Carolyn Lee Henderson Scholarship

To benefit undergraduate and graduate women finance students enrolled or accepted at UC Denver. This award is given based on a combination of financial need and academic merit.

  • Qualification Criteria: Open to both domestic and international women who are upper division undergraduate finance majors or graduate finance students and can demonstrate financial need (as determined by the UC Denver financial aid office).
  • Availability: This scholarship is available Spring and Fall semesters.
  • Amount Awarded: $500
  • Duration of the Award: One semester.
  • Additional Scholarships: Recipients of this award are eligible to receive other Business School scholarships.


Risk Management and Insurance

Awarded to CU Denver students enrolled in one or more of the following offerings

  • FNCE6909

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to both domestic and international graduate students
  • Must submit a resume.
  • Must submit a general​ essay

Amount Awarded: up to $500 per semester

Duration of the Award: One semester. Recipients may reapply in subsequent terms for reconsideration.

Availability: Spring 2012: October 15, 2011 - November 15, 2011. Fall 2012: December 1, 2011 - May 15, 2012.

Please note: Successful applicants will be awarded a Pinnacol Student Scholarship or RMI Student Scholarship​

The Robert E. Moore Memorial Scholarship

To benefit undergraduate or graduate Marketing students demonstrating strong academic performance.

  • Qualification Criteria: Open to both undergraduate and graduate and domestic and international Marketing students with a minimum GPA of 2.75 (undergraduates) or 3.25 (graduates).
  • Availability: This scholarship is available Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.
  • Amount Awarded: Maximum of $1,000.
  • Duration of the Award: One semester.
  • Additional Scholarships: Recipients of this award are eligible to receive other Business School scholarships.
