Job Outlook 2011: College Hiring Outlook Positive in All Regions

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The job market for the college Class of 2011 looks positive in all regions, according to a new survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers(NACE).

Overall, employers taking part in NACE’s Job Outlook 2011 Fall Preview survey expect to hire 13.5 percent more new grads from the Class of 2011 than they hired from the Class of 2010. By region, employers in the West project the biggest increase compared with last year, followed by employers in the Midwest.

The survey also found that employers expect to do the majority of their hiring in fall, continuing a trend toward locking in candidates early.

“This year, employers expect to conduct nearly two-thirds of their recruiting in the fall, and about one-third in the spring,” says Marilyn Mackes, NACE executive director. “That’s consistent with what they have anticipated over the past three years. Employers typically try to hire their top choice candidates early.”

NACE will update its hiring projections throughout the year through a variety of surveys and polls. The first poll will be conducted in October, and an update on college hiring will be provided in early November.

About the Job Outlook 2011 Fall Preview: The Job Outlook 2011 Fall Preview provides a forecast of hiring for the college Class of 2011. The survey was conducted among NACE employer members July 26 - August 20, 2010; 197, or 23.4 percent, responded. By region, 25.9 percent of the respondents represent organizations in the Northeast, 27.9 percent are from the Southeast, 32.5 percent are from the Midwest, and 13.7 percent are from the West.

Since 1956, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has been a leading source of information about the employment of college graduates. For more information, visit www.naceweb.org

To Fall 2011 Junior and Senior Undergraduate Students:

In the fall of 2010, we formed the BSAC – Business Student Ambassador Committee.

The BSAC is comprised of a group of the best and brightest students to represent the Business School and the University of Colorado Denver in our interactions with the Denver business community, guests and friends of the Business School, and charitable donors through the Foundation.   We are putting a student face on the Business School so that when interested parties  interact with us, they will learn about our great programs and see firsthand the value of being a University of Colorado Denver Business School student.

In 2011,  BSAC members were volunteer hosts for the YPO (Young Presidents Organization) Global Leadership Conference held in Denver, the New Business School business and Board reception and several BSAC ambassadors will be volunteer hosts at the upcoming Business School Celebration of Success dinner in mid May.

You have the opportunity to apply to join this terrific student club!    We are now in the midst of recruiting up to 25 additional BSAC members for the upcoming academic year.
