in Entrepreneurial Studies


 

StudentsAs part of the Business School at the University of Colorado Denver, the graduate Entrepreneurship  program offers more than 14 AACSB International accredited MBA/MS graduate-level courses that are open to both degree and non-degree seeking students. The Bard Center takes entrepreneurship from the classroom to the real world and provides hands-on learning opportunities.

The Bard Center's entrepreneurship curriculum incorporate instruction, mentoring, and support from outstanding Business School faculty, as well as from outside professionals with expertise in new business development. Bard Center courses explore legal issues, social sector initiatives, new venture design, finance structuring, strategic web development, leadership, new product development and business plan creation. Students learn from case studies, classroom instruction, and guest lectures featuring successful entrepreneurs and renowned business leaders.

Tuition for the current academic year is $496 per credit hour or $1,488 per course. Out-of-state tution is $833 per credit hour or $2,500, still $1000 less than most graduate business courses. There is an additional $100 charge for online and $50 for hybrid classes paid directly to CU Online. Please note entrepreneurship classes do not fit in the discounted tuition window and the tuition waiver is not accepted. 

 

Certificate in Entrepreneurship

A Certificate in Entrepreneurship gives students the ability to marshal resources to seize new business opportunities which have uncertain outcomes. It is NOT necessary for you to be registered in a Masters or MBA program to obtain this certificate and the only requirement is that you have a Bachelors Degree. The following courses are required to earn a certificate:

1. Take one of the following CORE courses:

  • ENTP 6642 Exploring Social Entrepreneurship
  • ENTP 6807 Small Business Marketing and Personal Branding
  • ENTP 6824 Entrepreneurial Finance
  • ENTP 6826 International Entrepreneurship
  • ENTP 6842 New Concept Development

2. Take one of the following SIGNATURE courses:

  • ENTP 6620 New Venture Operations and Project Management
  • ENTP 6644 Social Entrepreneurship in the Developing World
  • ENTP 6822 Legal and Ethical Issues of Entrepreneurship
  • ENTP 6838 Real Estate for Entrepreneurs
  • ENTP 6848 Leadership in New Ventures

3. Take one of the following CAPSTONE courses:

  • ENTP 6020 Business Plan and Seed Financing

Certificate in Bioinnovation and Entrepreneurship

The Bard Center is pleased to offer a contemporary new certificate in Bioinnovation and Entrepreneurship, the first of its kind to be offered by an AACSB accredited graduate business school in the country. Taking advantage of the incredible Colorado biocluster, and in collaboration with faculty at Anschutz Medical Campus, this certificate is one-of-a-kind, and is geared to helping bioentrepreneurs achieve commercial success. Additionally, you have opportunities to participate in a number of Bard Center programs; including the annual business plan competition, internships in area businesses, speaker programs with local entrepreneurs, and connection with new ventures.

Entrepreneurship Specialization for MBA / MS Management students

The Bard Center is pleased to offer MBA and MS Management students two specialization options, one in Entrepreneurship Studies and the other in Bioinnovation and Entrepreneurship depending on your desired area of interest. Both options require the completion of four appropriate courses, as indicated in the tables below. As a bonus, all students who complete the requirements will also be awarded an official University of Colorado Certificate in either Entrepreneurship Studies or in Bioinnovation and Entrepreneurship.  Additionally, you have opportunities to participate in a number of Bard Center programs; including the annual business plan competition, internships in area businesses, speaker programs with local entrepreneurs, and connection with new ventures.

For the specialization in entrepreneurship, kindly use the following table:

MS in Information Systems: Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialization

Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialization is designed to prepare students for successful careers in innovation-related roles, allowing them to organize, develop, and commercialize information technology-based innovation in existing firms or to create new technology-based ventures. The degree prepares students to evaluate opportunities and manage the process of innovation and builds the necessary knowledge and skills that enable leaders to seize market opportunities and drive strategic management and intelligent decision making. It includes courses in both Information Systems and Entrepreneurship and may also include an optional emphasis in Bio-innovation.

As a bonus, students completing the requirement of this specialization will also be awarded a certificate in Entrepreneurship Studies from the Bard Center.

Common Body of Knowledge (CBK)

If students do not have an AACSB accredited undergraduate or graduate degree in business, they are required to complete at least 12 credit hours (4 courses below):
