Overview
This course is about building, running, and growing an entrepreneurial organization. It is about creating an organization that will sustain high performance over a long period of time and become a premier institution in its field.
Managers of entrepreneurial organizations need to define an exciting vision of the future that wins the hearts and minds of all stakeholders. They need to create a mission statement, which articulates why the enterprise exists and binds employees to a common cause. They set strategic objectives and priorities for the organization. This includes defining what won’t get done. This calls for disciplined thinking to narrow the organization’s focus.
This course demonstrates that the essence of greatness lies in people's dedication to building companies around a sense of purpose -- around core values that infuse work with the kind of meaning that goes beyond just making money.
It reviews mission statements, good and bad. It studies different organizational cultures. It shows you how to build a vision. Importantly, the insights on all these subjects are rooted in rigorous research on successful entrepreneurial companies.
