Maen M. Husein is an associate professor at the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Irbed, Jordan, in 1995, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, in 1996 and 2000; respectively. He worked as a software engineer in the Power System Group at CAE Inc., Montreal, Quebec (200 - 2002) where his tasks included simulating different units of the power generation cycle of a nuclear power plant.
As a research associate at McGill University (2002 - 2003), Dr. Husein worked on novel methods of preparing nanoparticles. These methods are currently employed to form catalyst for heavy oil upgrading, and nanoparticle sorbents to remediate the environment. His research interest is in the field of nanotechnology, reactor design, reaction engineering, and wastewater treatment. He has taught many graduate and undergraduate courses, including Renewable Energies, Engineering Thermodynamics, Air and Water Pollution Control.
