Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all students can benefit from a knowledge of accounting. Although many students will not work directly in an accounting area upon graduation, most students will at some time in their lives buy a house and /or car, fund a child's college account as well as personal retirement accounts, keep budgets and use credit cards. Also, with the advent of Sarbanes-Oaxley, anyone working in a management position of any kind can be asked to document the systems and internal controls of that department. I believe all students who have taken some accounting classes will have more successful careers and more success with their personal finances as well.
