Rod Blunck

Associate Clinical Professor, ALPS and Executive Educational Leadership

My story:

I am a career educator with almost three decades in public education. I enjoyed the serenity of growing up in Nebraska in the 1970’s. I am the second oldest in a family of four sons. I am a native of Nebraska and attended grade school and high school in the small town of Plainview, Nebraska. I earned my B.A.E. from Wayne State College, my master’s degree at Colorado State University and my doctorate through NOVA Southeastern University.

I have made a career committed to public education including teaching and administrative positions in Denver Public Schools with graduate school teaching appointments at the University of Phoenix, University of Denver and Adams State College as well as consulting roles in program evaluation and management of educational projects. I was appointed Superintendent of Schools of the School District 27J in May of 2006 following years of service to the Elizabeth C-1 School District as Superintendent of Schools, Adams 12 Five Star School District as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and the Julesburg School District as Superintendent of Schools. My teaching experience was that of a special education teacher specializing in the education of ED students.

In 2006, I was awarded the Colorado Superintendent of the Year distinction for leadership of the Elizabeth C-1 School District. I have also been recognized for organizational excellence by the Colorado Performance Excellence Organization and was featured as a keynote speaker in their 2004 statewide conference. In 2005, the Elizabeth C-1 School District received the State Treasurer’s highest award for the fiscal integrity of our budget and the transparency of our budgeting process.

I am the father of one daughter, Megan, high school senior at Brighton High School. My wife, Julie, is retired.
