The CU Denver School of Education & Human Development Advantage

Established 40 years ago, the School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver is a national leader in programs that start and advance careers in teaching, counseling/mental health, administration and research.

Ranked among the best national graduate schools of education and online education providers by U.S. News & World Report, we offer doctoral, graduate and undergraduate programs of study that focus on educational equity and excellence. Our programs make lasting improvements in student achievement (from early childhood education to the adult learner) and mental health.

We have a vibrant community of faculty, students and alumni who are passionate about collaborating with our metro community, Colorado, the nation and the world, with hundreds of high-impact projects and engagements. CU’s reputation allows for unbeatable external partnerships. For instance, we are at the forefront of innovative full-year placements with partner districts and schools that share in the development of our educators.

Our innovative academic programs and research address the most pressing needs of PK-12 schools, especially in diverse, urban settings focused on enhancing student achievement and addressing social and emotional needs of children, youth and families. We are a leader in the development of innovative tools for measuring the outcomes of our preparation programs.

We have an abundance of nationally known experts in education engaged in cutting-edge research, with around $40 million in current research funding.

Located on the University of Colorado’s Denver Campus, SEHD is the largest graduate school of education in Colorado. We enroll more than 2,000 degree-seeking students, plus an additional 6,400 students for continuing and professional education certificates and programs. All of our students are taught by teams of faculty scholars and accomplished practitioners.

Denver is a fascinating, walkable city with an excellent public transportation system. Nearby, you will find amazing cultural assets, restaurants and clubs and pro sports teams. Ski resorts are within easy access over the weekends. When you attend SEHD, you get Denver and Colorado, too! Use it to your advantage.
