Central is a school of approximately 600 students from pre-school to 5th grade. We are a Title 1 school with an 82% Hispanic population and you will find our students rich with culture and eager to learn. Our focus at Central is science and technology and all teachers receive professional development in these two areas to keep current with the latest changes.
Mission Statement: All members of our community are committed advocates who work together to inspire each child and ensure individual proficiency.
Central’s principal, Hollene Davis has been in education for 22 years, both on the East Coast and in Colorado. Her career started South of Boston as a high school social studies teacher. Once she moved to Colorado, she went back to get a degree in special education and was a special education teacher (SIED) at Adams City Middle School. As all educators do, she continued with schooling and pursued a master’s in administration from the University of Colorado Denver. This is part of the reason that she supports the partnership with such passion. Hollene has served as an elementary assistant principal at Central for 3 years and as a principal for 6.
As a staff, we recognize the importance of the pre-kinder-fifth grade experience and how every grade level is a stepping stone to increase proficiency in all academic areas.Every teacher strives to create positive relationships with the children and parents we serve to ensure we are supporting our students to reach their greatest potential. Weofferfive full day kindergarten classes, as well as twopre-kindergarten classes. We believeparents are the foundation for learning, and the staff at Central want to support our parents in their personal dreams for their children. We appreciate parent volunteers and want all parents to feel welcome at our school. For students that need extra support, we offer after school tutoring per the suggestion of our highly qualified staff. As a community, we instituteduniformsin the 2008-09 schoolyear forkindergarten through fifth grade students.Central students celebrate being CUBS (Cooperating, Understanding, Believing and Success) by wearing our school colors (blue, khaki and white) everyday.
You will find when visiting Central that our staff is committed to developing the best skills possible to engage our students in learning through the use of technology andnew, innovative ways to teach. Central has a before and after school program called S.T.A.R.S. that serves children on a full-time, part-time and drop-in basis. If you need before/after school care for your child, please call the main office and our staff will be happy to assist you.
Teacher candidates are an integral part of our school community. We have an average of ten teacher candidates in our schools, working side by side with their clinical teacher to provide added support and quality instruction for all of our students. In addition, many of our staff members, including our principal, have graduated from the partnership program.
We hope to have an opportunity to work with you as you develop the skills of teaching in a warm and inviting community of educators.
