Scholarships for all SEHD Students


 

AmeriCorps Scholarship

AmeriCorps service scholarships are earned by over 200 students per year.

300 hours in 1 calendar year = $1,000 service scholarship
450 hours in 1 calendar year = $1,250 service scholarship
900 hours in 2 calendar years = $2,363 service scholarship
Scholarship criteria: To participate you must be: enrolled in a School of Education & Human Development graduate program; an American citizen, U.S. national, or a lawful permanent resident alien; and at least 17 years old. To join the program you must attend an orientation. During the orientation we will go over the program rules and complete the enrollment paperwork. Register for the next information session. Mrs. Colorado Foundation Scholarship

$1000 awarded to 1 recipient in Spring 2010. Recipient recognized at the Mrs. Colorado Pageant.

Scholarship criteria: Student seeking higher education in Colorado with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Professor recommendation required. Cover letter must address the mission "Enriching Women's Lives Through Education" and the goals of the Mrs. Colorado Foundation. Information on the foundation can be found at http://mrscofoundation.org. The scholarship recipient will be required to attend the Mrs. Colorado Pageant in May, 2010 where the student will be honored. Up to 10 complementary tickets for the student and their family or friends will be provided with 2 tickets for the honoree saved for the front row.


Virginia T. Schuman Scholarship

$1,000 awarded to 10-12 student recipients in Fall and Spring
Scholarship criteria: Degree-seeking student with a minimum of 5 credit hours. GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate work. GPA of 2.75 or higher in graduate work. Your special essay should address financial need (elaborate on any life events or financial burdens which will impact your ability to continue with your education) and highlight your academic potential and/or accomplishments.


Alumni Association Graduate Scholarship

$1,000 award to 1 recipient for Spring and Fall semester (April 1 deadline applies)
Scholarship criteria: CU Denver graduate degree-seeking student who is enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester. Colorado resident and US citizen with a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Your cover letter should address your financial need, explaining work, family and other special circumstances.


School of Education & Human Development Alumni Scholarship

$1000 per student awarded to 1 or more students per year in Fall and Spring semesters
Scholarship criteria: You must have applied to a degree program within the School of Education & Human Development and have an undergraduate or Post-Bac GPA of 3.3 or better. Your essay must address your desire to be an advocate for learners from culturally diverse backgrounds and/or disadvantaged conditions. A letter of support from a community member, SEHD faculty member or supervisor must address your record of advocating for individuals from culturally diverse environments and/or disadvantaged conditions. 


School of Education & Human Development Scholarship Fund

Awards of $500 - $1000 for one to four students in Fall and Spring

This scholarship supports students in the School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. Please submit an essay describing your educational aspirations.


Retired Faculty Scholarship

$500 award to one student in the Fall and Spring

Scholarship criteria: This scholarship provides scholarships to students in the School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. Please submit an essay describing your educational aspirations.
