Early Childhood Education

Welcome! University of Colorado Denver’s Early Childhood Education program prepares highly skilled, evidence-based early childhood professional leaders in Colorado with the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of young children and their families within a rapidly changing and diverse society.

Students learn typical and atypical child development, best practices in early childhood education, intervention techniques and positive behavior support plans, and the many skills needed to assess, monitor and report the progress of all children. We emphasize family-centered practices, culturally responsive teaching in multicultural and multilingual settings, and advocacy related to young children with disabilities or developmental delays.

This program also has continuing education master’s level classes that build on one another and can be considered a pathway to certificates, endorsements and degrees. The classes are also available to community members as non-degree students. These classes are taught by expert faculty and influential members of the Denver education community who provide information and skills that are readily applicable and culturally responsive.
