Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies Program

Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies Program

Welcome! University of Colorado Denver’s Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies (ALPS) Program has been preparing leaders in education for more than 30 years. Our graduates are leaders in public and private schools, research and policy centers and other educational settings locally, nationally and globally. We have an exceptionally strong reputation for preparing school leaders who are competent, collaborative and ready to make a difference.

We teach students how to develop, articulate, implement and promote their visions. Students gain in-depth understanding about leadership roles and responsibilities, contemporary educational issues, collaborations within and across communities, as well as a thorough awareness of the legal, financial and political dimensions of schools and school districts. Each course incorporates themes of equity and social justice, a focus on the needs and experiences of diverse children and youth, and implications for leadership in today’s schools.

This program also has continuing education master’s level classes that build on one another and can be considered a pathway toward certificates, endorsements and degrees. The classes are also available to community members as non-degree students. These classes are taught by expert faculty and influential members of the Denver education community who provide information and skills that are readily applicable and culturally responsive.

Rod Blunck, Clinical Associate Professor
Connie Fulmer, Professor
Dorothy Garrison-Wade, Associate Dean/Associate Professor

Haddad is teaching the ALPS Program Northern/Southern Leadership Academy #1 in fall 2013.

We are proud to point out that in 2013, our alum Matthew Willis won the National Assistant Principal of the Year. See page 2 of our alumni magazine.
