CU Denver now offers professional development tours that blend with online courses to provide you with the foundation and support to expand your knowledge and awareness of global education. Come away with a curriculum based upon your travel experiences that incorporate global citizenship into your classroom. We are thrilled to offer professional development tours through our partners, Walking Tree Travel, and through the Office of International Affairs.
Professional development trips are offered during summer break so travel is convenient for educators. Join us to destinations that focus on social justice issues in education within a current and historical context. Travel qualifies as the second course and includes additional assignments. Professional development travel from other accredited organizations will also be accepted.
The certificate is a series of 3 graduate level courses that provide a framework for global competency and application in the classroom. Courses are delivered online and blended with qualifying international travel. Courses must be taken in the order listed below.
All courses are three graduate credit hours. Tuition is $359.50/credit, plus student fees.
CU Denver is a state university and is fully
accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the School
of Education & Human Development is accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The Global Education certificate and its courses may translate to a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. It also supplements an emphasis in Global Education for Teach for America MA candidates.

|EDFN 5700: Global Education & 21st Century Learning
This course explores challenges and opportunities of global citizenship, articulates framework for 21st century learner, examines influence of social and political movements, including colonization, on the development of communities and cultures, and explores connections and intersections of local and global issues and systems.
|UEDU 5705: Global Experiential Learning
This course is the travel component of the certificate. Students will develop global competency skills, research problems or opportunities of global significance using 21st century skills, engage in learning communities to reflect, analyze and communicate international educational experiences, design global education teaching and learning, and compare education perspectives.
|UEDU 5710: Global Education Capstone Project
Educators plan a curriculum unit that integrates their experiences abroad and increased content knowledge into engaging, meaningful, standards-aligned lessons.
