This certificate is offered as a cohort, through our district partnerships. If you are interested in this certificate, please e-mail us.
The Culturally Responsive Urban Education certificate is designed to assist educators in meeting the needs of urban students who are culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse. The certificate course sequence takes a close look at identity development, the role of power and privilege in both individual and institutional interactions, ways to engage families and communities in support of student learning, and a social justice and equity approach to teacher pedagogy and practices.
The certificate consists of three courses, totaling nine credit hours, and may be earned in one year. All credits may be applied toward a UC Denver master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Linguistically Diverse Education.
