Enessa Janes


Bio

Enessa Janes received her B.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University and her M.S. in Environmental Communication from Stanford University. Before joining the IGERT Program she worked in both the private and nonprofit sectors on climate change adaptation and international sustainable development projects. Enessa has worked internationally with The Asia Foundation’s Mongolia branch and with the Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute for Research on Climate Change and Hazards in Panama. She has also participated in domestic research studies related to hospitals, disaster preparedness, and social vulnerability to hazards. Enessa received her PhD in Design and Planning from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2013.




Research 


Enessa´s research focuses on local planning processes and the relationships between collaborative planning, social vulnerability, and risk reduction outcomes. The title of her dissertation is “Evaluating Local Hazard Mitigation Planning: Quality, Public Participation, and Social Vulnerability.”
