Dan Piatkowski


Bio

Daniel Piatkowski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Arizona State University, A Master of Urban and Environmental Planning degree from Arizona State University and is currently a PhD Candidate in Design and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver. Daniel has worked in strategic planning and community organizing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and worked in the bicycle industry before joining the PhD program in Denver. He has taught English-language courses in Vilnius, Lithuania, and worked as a volunteer at community bicycle-education programs in the Metro-Phoenix region.

Research

Current research interests include: multi-modal and non-motorized transportation planning, individual travel behavior, transit-oriented development, sustainability and resiliency in transportation planning. Daniel’s dissertation topic assesses the effectiveness of interventions aimed at promoting bicycling and walking on travel behavior and attitudes towards non-motorized modes. The Active Communities/Transportation Research group’s faculty advisors and student participants have been instrumental in shaping Daniel’s academic interests, research experience, and continued progress through the PhD program at the University of Colorado Denver.
