Ann Scheerer


 

Bio

Ann Scheerer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from Kalamazoo College (Kalamazoo, Michigan), a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Development from Blekinge Institute of Technology (Sweden).

She comes to the UC Denver IGERT Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Program after working in public works, electrical utilities and non-profit sustainable community development organizations in Wisconsin and Washington. Ann’s roles as program manager and public process facilitator have allowed her to combine her technical and communication skills to facilitate improvement projects in the communities in which she lives and works.

Research Interests:

Ann is pursuing a PhD in Urban Design and Planning. Her research interests include participatory democracy and city climate change planning and policy. She is particularly interested in emerging urban community networks innovating and diffusing sustainable best practices to create more resilient, interconnected social and built infrastructure systems.

 

Non-research Highlights:

Ann has enjoyed a variety of community volunteering experiences: volunteer coordinator for Sustainable Seattle, vice president of Sustainable Ballard, dialogue coordinator for Northwest Earth Institute, facilitator of the Work That Reconnects. For fun, Ann loves to bike the urban trails, play tennis, hike and ski.
