Losses Altars with Students Against Interpersonal Violence (SAIV)

  • When: October 22nd, 2012 11:30am until 1:00pm
  • Where: Tivoli 440/540, in the tower
  • Who: Students Against Interpersonal Violence (SAIV), to check their facebook out click here.

Traditionally, to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, families will create altars to deceased family members or loved ones and light candles, offer flowers and sometimes their favorite food and drink. For this workshop, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we will be creating altars to represent those parts of ourselves that we feel we have lost as a result of domestic violence, in order to move past and heal from these experiences.

SAIV will provide boxes, basic arts and crafts supplies (paper, glue, paints/brushes, magazine clippings, scissors, paper flowers, etc.). Feel free to bring photos, keepsakes, and anything else meaningful to you that you would like to use in your altar. | Physical Address: 1380 Lawrence St., Ste. 500  Denver, CO  80204 | Mailing Address: University of Colorado Denver, SPA, Campus Box 142, P.O.
