FLSA: Non-exempt Classification: 40 hours per week
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Reports to and receives supervision from the Shelter Director. Hours:
Crossroads Safehouse operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide safehousing and services to its clients and the community. All employees must be available for scheduling flexibility covering evening; weekend and holiday shifts are required.
Essential Functions:
Facilitates support groups and individual advocacy for Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence and their children
Conducts advocate duties including individual, group, and family advocacy.
Provides information, referral, legal advocacy referral, and support on a regular basis.
Provides support to the Domestic Abuse Response Team and Legal Assistance Program.
Conducts client intakes, orientation, contracts, and exit interviews. Performs record keeping functions pertaining to clients in the shelter including client forms and educational and referral literature.
Provides crisis intervention by telephone and in-person.
Assists in the delivery of the Crosstrails Program as appropriate.
Maintains knowledge of current issues in the field and attends workshops to increase professional knowledge and effectiveness.
Serves as a member of the staff team; participates in client case management, staff meetings, and team efforts in problem solving, applicable program and policy development, program evaluation, and planning.
Responds to the safety and welfare of the clients and care of the facility by reporting needed repairs and health/safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.
Assists in maintaining the shelter and helps ensure the readiness of rooms for occupancy. This includes minor maintenance, necessary cleaning and stocking of linens, supplies, etc.
Other Job Duties:
Assists in the gathering of statistical data on program activity.
May be required to present educational and promotional Crossroads/domestic violence programs and presentations to various partnership service agencies and community organizations.
May be required to initiate and maintain relationships with outreach sources such as human service organizations.
Performs related duties as assigned by Shelter Manager.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Knowledge concerning domestic violence.
Ability to effectively counsel and provide information in a crisis situation.
Knowledge of local community and human services resources.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Ability to climb a flight of stairs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience and Training: Bilingual Spanish/English required. Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science Field or related field. Familiarity with immigration process a plus.
