Center for Local Government Research and Training

The mission of the Center for Local Government Research and Training(CLoGRT) is to support and enhance the governance of Colorado's cities, counties and special districts.  We pursue this mission through three interrelated activities: Research, Public Service and Professional Development - which we seek to pursue in partnership with other organizations that are striving to enhance the governance of Colorado's localities.

CLoGRT provides relevant and timely research, training, facilitation, and other outreach services. These activities cut across substantive policy issues of interest to local and regional communities, such as education, local and regional governance, environmental and sustainability issues, public health, and public finance. CLoGRT also serves as a portal to access resources related to these and other issues within the School of Public Affairs and the University of Colorado System.

Jacob to speak at Reinventing Government Workshop

Dr. Benoy Jacob, Assistant Professor and Director of the Buechner Institute's Center for Local Government Research and Training, will be speaking at a workshop entitled “Reinventing Government: The Book’s Continuing Impact After 20 Years and Its Message for Our Future.”  Sponsored by CH2M HILL, this workshop is presented by ICMA’s Center for Management Strategies, the Alliance for Innovation and Arizona State University. This half-day program on March 28th will feature an interview with Ted Gaebler discussing the impetus behind the book and insights about improving performance in the future as well as a critical review of the criticisms of the book. The afternoon session features assessments from leading managers of the impact of reinventing government principles and examination of the future of practice and research in the profession. During this final segment of the program, Jacob will be contributing his thoughts regarding the implication of the book with respect to the future of local government.
