Mark’s research areas include: public policy / policy analysis, environmental policy, sustainability policy, urban affairs, and collaborative governance.
Mark came to UCD to pursue his PhD in Public Affairs from the School of Public Affairs with research funding from the National Science Foundation's IGERT in Sustainable Urban Infrastructure. Mark found this combination to be a perfect marriage of his interests in researching policy topics and environmental issues.
Mark has served as research assistant for Dr. Tanya Heikkila since August 2009, projects have included: interstate river basin research for the Western United States and collaborative governance research for the Florida Everglades. Research has included data gathering, data coding, data analysis, interviews, database management, and co- authoring and presenting of academic papers. Co-author for several additional conference papers, peer reviewed papers, and journal articles with co-authors beyond Dr. Heikkila.
