The Mountain & Plains ERC works in collaboration with the NIOSH regional office and Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists to host the annual WestON Conference. The aim of the conference is to help state officials to share best practices and to better track occupational health and safety so they can better target their prevention efforts in local communities and specific at-risk industries.

The Rocky Mountain Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine will be hosting their annual conference February 3-4, 2012. The event is co-sponsored by the Mountain and Plains ERC, the University of Utah and RMA. Practicing physicians in the field can receive CMEs for attending. The two-day conference will feature topics including: veteran populations and pulmonary health issues, occupational asthma, the aging workforce, independent medical examination, EMG, technology in medical education and Colorado chronic pain guidelines.

This workshop will address the diverse workforce and how to overcome challenges and barriers such as differences in language and culture, when targeting these vulnerable groups for occupational health and safety interventions The 2-day workshop held at Colorado State University will be lead bring together 8-12 leading academics/researchers specialized in research translation and/or vulnerable worker population to provide hands-on experience.
