The Rocky Mountain Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine will be hosting their annual conference February 3-4, 2012. The event is co-sponsored by the Mountain and Plains ERC, the University of Utah and RMA. Practicing physicians in the field can receive CMEs for attending. The two-day conference will feature topics including: veteran populations and pulmonary health issues, occupational asthma, the aging workforce, independent medical examination, EMG, technology in medical education and Colorado chronic pain guidelines.
Objectives
At the end of the conference, participants should be able to:
- Understand aspects of conducting electrodiagnostic evaluation in work related injuries
- Discuss the guidelines for using social media and online technologies in practice
- Identify risk factors and clinical syndromes associated with international traveling
- Define the process of independent medical examinations in the Colorado workers' compensation system
- Understand pulmonary health issues identified in veterans post deployment and needs for diagnostic studies
- Integrate updated treatment guidelines into an occupational medicine practice for chronic pain
- Discuss exposures associated with occupational asthma
- Understand contributing factors of an aging workforce on the state of occupational and environmental health practice
- Define cumulative trauma disorder and best treatment
