The NIOSH Western States Division, in conjunction with the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) and the Mountain & Plains Education and Research Center, hosts an annual Western States Occupational Network (WestON) meeting for occupational safety and health colleagues from the Western United States.
Every year WestON convenes to provide an opportunity for Western state and local public health professionals to meet and share ideas on occupational health and safety. This annual event expands upon efforts to build a strong occupational safety and health network in the West. Information on key western worker safety and health issues, available resources, and mechanisms for developing effective state occupational safety and health programs are discussed. Attendees include state epidemiologists, state and local health department officials, statistics coordinators, NIOSH, OSHA, Education and Research Center/Agriculture Center representatives, and others interested in occupational surveillance and occupational safety and health in the Western United States. For information about previous WestON meetings, please see below.
The 2016 WestON meeting will be September 29-30, 2016. If you would like more information, please contact Yvonne Boudreau (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Participate in Quick Takes at the 9th WestON Meeting in Denver, Sept.
WestON Quick Takes are short visual presentations to spotlight a wide
range of topics and provoke spirited and informative conversations. The Quick
Takes sessions at our last two WestON meetings were a huge success. You can present for up to five
minutes (but no longer) on any project or initiative
you're working on -- outbreak investigations, safety trainings,
engaging new partners, managing the hundreds of OSH-related emails, or anything
else you want to share.
For examples of effective and creative ways to communicate in five minutes, check out:
Whatever the content,
remember: The primary goal of your five-minute
talk is to communicate effectively and to illustrate your project. Be creative!
Space is limited! If you would like to participate, please respond by
COB April 30, 2016 to Yvonne Boudreau (email@example.com) with your topic idea. Include:
