The Center partners with the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health to host an interdisciplinary seminar series to present new and emerging trends. Each year we bring in visiting scholars and researchers to present on a wide range of topics including environmental health, Total Worker HealthTM ​, safety and health in oil and gas, and toxicology.

 Downwind of the Flames: Understanding the Human Health Effects of Wildland Fires

Sheryl Magzamen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University and in the Department of Epidemiology at the Colorado School of Public Health. Her research program focuses on the role anthropogenic and biogenic pollutants and respiratory health, with particular attention to pediatric asthma.                                                                                                                                 Click here to view video​

 Safety and health hazards of workers in the oil and gas extraction industry

Kyla D. Retzer, MPH has been working as an epidemiologist within the Oil and Gas Safety and Health Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for the past six years. (Tuesday, March 8, 2016)

Total Worker Health

Dr. L. Casey Chosewood is the Director of the Office for Total Worker Health® at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and CDC. He promotes the protection and improvement of the safety, health and well-being of workers around the world. From 2004 to 2009, he served as the Director of the CDC Office of Health and Safety, safeguarding the 15,000 members of the CDC workforce as they faced new challenges of the modern public health era including emerging infectious diseases, bioterrorism and other global health challenges.
