CSPH Capstone Consulting Clinics

CSPH provides additional TA support for biostatistics through the Colorado Biostatistics Consortium (CBC). The biostatistics students working in the CBC are available to answer questions you may have implementing your analysis. They have experience in SAS and R primarily, but likely can also trouble shoot issues with SPSS and Stata. They will also review your interpretation of your statistical output.

The expectation is that the analysis needed for your project be implementable by you with guidance from the Capstone instructors, project advisors, and tutoring with CBC biostatistics students. You need to have the questions of interest and analysis plan developed prior to meeting with CBC students. The CBC will not implement your analysis for you.

 What support is not available?

The expectation is that the analysis needed for your project be implementable by you with guidance from the Capstone instructors, project advisors, and tutoring with CBC biostatistics students. 2

 How to contact the CBC?

Please submit a CSPH Capstone Consulting Clinic Request. After your project has been reviewed and approved you will receive an e-mail from one of the CBC students to set up an appointment.

3

 When to contact the CBC?

As soon as you have questions on your analysis; the earlier the better. The closer you contact us to your deadline, the less likely the CBC students will be able to meet with you in enough time for you to benefit from their tutoring.

4

 What to bring?

Please bring any data, programs, or statistical output you wish to discuss during the meeting. It may be useful to bring in your laptop with this information if possible.

5

The CBC student said your analysis is too hard given your background, what now?

The CBC students and you may find that the analysis is beyond your training. In that case, you will be directed back to your Capstone team to simplify your analytic contribution to the project. The CBC students will let the CBC Director (Nichole Carlson) know of the issue so that a faculty member can talk with the Capstone course director also. The goal is to best support you getting a project that is doable by you.
