At the NCRE II
2012 conference, we will involve students in a more intentional way, explicitly
connecting them with NCRE members who can provide time-limited mentorship on
conducting research with Native children and adolescents and career
development. NCRE II Student Scholars will receive travel support to attend the
conference, be paired with a senior NCRE faculty member for targeted
mentorship, be actively involved in conference presentations and activities,
and make connections with the broader NCRE membership. Up to four NCRE II
Student Scholars will be accepted. A full description of the NCRE II Student
Scholar program can be found on the NCRE II Student Scholar’s
Program page.
The success of
NCRE II Student Scholars program will depend on the availability of NCRE members to serve as mentors. NCRE II Student
Scholar Mentors are expected to attend the NCRE II 2012 conference which will
be held October 3-5, 2012 at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
in Aurora, Colorado, and engage in the following activities:
- Attend the
preconference reception the evening of Wednesday October 3, 2012
- Attend the
NCRE poster symposium to review student posters and participate in
symposium discussion
- Meet
students for one-on-one discussion of research interests and career goals
- Introduce
students to other NCRE members, particularly those with similar interests
Following the
NCRE II 2012 Conference, mentors are expected to follow up with students
periodically to provide guidance on research and career development.
Limited travel
support will be provided for NCRE II Student Scholar Mentors to attend the NCRE
II 2012 conference.
