NCRE II Conference 2012

NCRE II Student Scholars Program

The NCRE II Student Scholars program will provide opportunities for students interested in developmental research (from birth through emerging adulthood) with Native communities to:  network and build relationships with junior and senior faculty, other students, and funders whose work focuses on Native children’s development; obtain mentorship and career guidance from experienced researchers; and learn about current research with Native children and adolescents.

Students who would benefit from participation in the NCRE II Student Scholars Program include undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students who are involved or interested in research on Native children’s development from a variety of disciplines across the social and health sciences.  Prior research experience in Native child and adolescent development is not necessary.

NCRE II Student Scholars will engage in a variety of activities that center around the NCRE II 2012 conference. Prior to the NCRE II 2012 conference, students accepted into the NCRE II Student Scholars program will be matched with senior researchers whose research aligns with student interests.

NCRE II Student Scholars are expected to attend the NCRE II 2012 conference which will be held October 3-5, 2012 at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.  Travel support will be provided.  Scholar activities at the conference will include:
  • Attending the preconference welcome reception the evening of Wednesday October 3, 2012
  • Participating in the poster symposium by presenting current research
  • Meeting with research mentors during conference for a one-on-one discussion of research interests and career goals
  • Attending the NCRE II student lunch
  • Moderating one conference session

Following the NCRE II 2012 conference, Scholar activities will include:
