Data Analysis Project - Specific Aims


1) Establish baseline indicators for Medicare enrollment and health status, service use, payments, and outcomes for AI/AN Medicare beneficiaries using CMS data;
In order to establish baseline indicators for the project population 2010 CMS data for all Medicare beneficiaries is being analyzed. This data includes enrollment, health status, service use, payments, and health outcomes for over 50 million beneficiaries, of which nearly 225,000 are identified as AI/AN.
2) Monitor changes in these indicators in subsequent years using CMS data;
The baseline indicators, described under specific aim 1, will be used to monitor changes over time. Additional years of both Medicare and Medicaid data will be included in the analyses as they become available.
3) Describe the health status, service use, payments, and outcomes for AI/ANs with chronic disease using CMS data; and
CMS data for Medicare beneficiaries identified as AI/AN are being analyzed to better describe the health status, service use, payments, and outcomes for those who have Diabetes.
4) Assess health disparities between AI/ANs and other Medicare beneficiaries. 
CMS data for all Medicare beneficiaries will be used to analyze health disparities between AI/ANs and other Medicare beneficiaries.
