The goals of the American Indian and Alaska Native Head Start Research Center (AIANHSRC) are to operationalize and implement a research and training agenda for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

The National Center for American Indian and Alaska Native Head Start Research program will address gaps in our knowledge relevant to this most significant early childhood intervention in AI/AN communities through the implementation of the following objectives:

  1. To establish the infrastructure of a Center capable of starting to address the nation’s needs for AI/AN Head Start research.
  2. To facilitate the conduct of research that will address the needs of AI/AN communities and their HS Programs, university-based researchers, and
agencies concerned with the well-being of children and families.
  3. To develop the capacity for future research in AI/AN Head Start.
